The Yemeni armed forces have cautioned Israel against committing any “foolish” act, and have said they are ready to respond against military intrusions appropriately.

In an editorial published in the 26 September newspaper on 29 August, Yemeni officials took aim at reports that claimed Israel carried out an attack on Yemen at the start of this month.

“The armed forces warn the Zionist enemy against committing any foolishness because any aggression against a free, proud, and steadfast Yemen will not be met with silence, but with an appropriate response. The armed forces are ready for any options determined by the leadership at any moment, and the enemy has to take this warning seriously,” the editorial reads.

The editorial was published one day after a senior member of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen, Muhammad Ali al-Houthi, told Al Mayadeen that “the major battle for which the Yemeni people and the people of the nation must mobilize is the battle to liberate Al-Aqsa Mosque,” noting that the war with the Saudi-led coalition “is a battle to liberate Al-Aqsa.”

Al-Houthi also denied reports of an Israeli missile strike on Yemen during this month’s attacks on Gaza.

According to sources close to the Ansarallah resistance movement, the allegations highlight Tel Aviv’s growing concerns about Sanaa’s military capabilities.

Last week, Ansarallah leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi said “the tyranny of our time is represented by America and Israel and those who ally with them.” He added that the normalization of relations with Israel is “treason.”

According to a “high-ranking security source” that spoke with Israel’s i24NEWS last week, Tel Aviv is considering the possibility of an open front to the south of the occupied territories to confront Ansarallah missiles.

The security source goes on to claim that “the real danger facing Israel lies in Yemen,” and that the possibility of Ansarallah targeting Israel “is now a reality,” as the country is worried that the tension with Hezbollah in the north is just used as a distraction.
