The leader of Yemen’s Ansarallah movement, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, said on 2 September that the popular movement will liberate and take control of the entire country.
“We will liberate all of our country and take back all the areas occupied by the enemies [who want] to subjugate them to the Americans, British and Israelis,” he said during a televised speech, adding that the movement “will guarantee that our country will be free and independent, not subject to any occupation by any external enemy, and not subject to any tutelage.”
The Ansarallah leader went on to say that Washington and Tel Aviv are the main beneficiaries of the Saudi-led war that has sunk Yemen into chaos.
“The injustice done by the US and the Zionist regime constitutes a dangerous threat to the religious beliefs, security, freedom and dignity of the entire Muslim world. There is no doubt that the Saudi regime is in cahoots with the United States and Israel,” the resistance leader said.
Al-Houthi added that if the Ansarallah movement had been defeated by occupying forces “there would have been American, British and Israeli bases in Sanaa and elsewhere in Yemen.”
Yemen has been under siege since 2015 by a Saudi-led coalition that seeks to reinstate the ousted government of Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi. Since then hundreds of thousands of Yemenis have been killed and millions have been forced to flee their homes due to the violence.
