Iraqi officials have confirmed that at least 92 people died and over 100 others were injured following a disastrous fire that broke out on the night of 12 July at Imam Hussein Hospital in Dhi Qar province. The fire, which started in the COVID-19 isolation ward, was reportedly triggered by a flying spark from damaged wires, causing an oxygen tank to explode. The Iraqi government also announced the start of a high-level investigation to find those responsible for the incident, while a court has already issued 13 arrest warrants.
