Saudi state media reported on 21 November that Saudi air defenses destroyed a drone targeting Najran Airport in the south of the country.
According to Saudi state TV, the debris from the shattered drone fell onto a Saudi neighborhood, but there were no injuries.
The Saudi-led coalition, which is fighting the Yemeni Armed Forces, said that the drone had been launched from Sanaa Airport.
The Yemeni Armed Forces had launched 14 drone attacks against several Saudi cities, including Saudi Aramco facilities in Jeddah, just one day earlier.
According to the Armed Forces spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, 14 drone strikes were carried out deep inside Saudi territory against a military base in the vicinity of King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, as well as military targets in Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport Jeddah and in Abha International Airport.
“In response to the escalation of aggression and the continuation of its crimes and siege, our armed forces carried out the eighth Operation Balance of Deterrence by bombing a number of military and vital targets belonging to the Saudi enemy,” Saree announced via Twitter. He also shared aerial images of military sites in Riyadh that were targeted during the operation.
Reports indicate that the Saudi-led coalition launched 13 airstrikes against the Ansarallah movement later on Saturday, 20 November. The attacks hit weapons depots, air defense systems, and drone communication systems in Sanaa, Saada, and Marib provinces, according to the Saudi-led coalition.
The coalition says it also destroyed three drones launched towards southern Saudi Arabia on 19 November as well as a fourth drone while it was still in Yemeni airspace.
Yemeni Armed Forces are advancing in Marib, the last government stronghold in the north, as well as in other areas, including the port city of Hodeidah.
According to reports, the loss of Marib would be a major setback for the Saudi-led coalition.
